A Datto SIRIS backup appliance replaces the now-defunct rotating hard drive backup solution with a purpose-built hardware appliance dedicated to backup and recovery. Protected systems have a backup agent installed on them that communicate with the SIRIS backup appliance via an AES encrypted connection. Data transferred via this encrypted connection is scanned for ransomware to ensure backups are clean and free of ransomware. Completed backups are automatically converted into a virtual server and are booted to ensure backups are 100% operational and intact.
